Prepare for dreamy hikes, ancient cave explorations, dips in crystal clear waters, and so much more! Whether it be the lesser known living root bridges of the state, or the fossils from eons ago, there's a lot to look forward to in this action packed week
Team Northeast Travel Experts will be waiting at the airport to receive you and your fellow travellers as you land in Guwahati. By 10 am, we will start our drive to Meghalaya. This first day is for you to soak up the unique energy and charm of Shillong, the bustling capital. Being a weekend, Shillong is buzzing with activity, offering something for everyone. Allow us to guide you to the best spots, whether it be the cafes, clubs, or street markets. If you prefer to explore on your own, there are plenty of options, from visiting the Don Bosco museum, going shopping, getting out for a great meal, or dancing at a local club. Finally, return to your stay for a good night's sleep.
Wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast. We will leave for Smit Valley/Laitlum, which is also known as End Of Hills. Then We will go for Phe Phe Waterfalls, one of the longest waterfalls in Meghalaya also known as Paradise waterfalls. It is situated next to the tiny community of Jaintia in the west Jaintia Hills district. Here is a viewpoint from where you can see the mesmerising view of Phe Phe falls before reaching the trek point. You have to hike almost 1 km to reach the waterfalls. You can take a bath here and find the most crystal clean water around the area. Here you can have the meal with the landscape view of hills and the waterfalls. Take some rest & enjoy the sunset before returning to your stay for the night.
After breakfast, we head to Krangshuri waterfalls, where a placid river suddenly drops, creating a curtain of flowing water that falls over a cave. During summer, blue, clear waters can be seen at the bottom of the waterfalls. Next, we visit Noh kawang Waterfalls with a 1.5-hour trek. The day ends at Shnongpdeng, an adventure destination on the Umngot river bordering Bangladesh. Float on top of the crystal clear river and enjoy a pleasant stay at the riverside camping site.
After breakfast and optional water activities at Shnongpdeng, we visit Mawlynnong, known as God's Own Garden and Asia's cleanest village. Explore the famous Nohwet Living Root Bridge, created by weaving the roots of the Ficus Elastica tree. Visit the century-old Church of the Epiphany and climb the bamboo tree houses for panoramic views of Bangladesh's plains. The day offers a perfect blend of natural wonders and cultural experiences.
Early morning after breakfast, we embark on a waterfall circuit visiting the unique three-tiered Wei Sawdong waterfalls, Denthlein waterfalls, Pruit waterfalls, and a natural swimming pool. The day also includes exploration of Mawsmai cave - one of the darkest caves, followed by visits to Seven Sister falls, Nohkhalikai Falls, and Kynrem Falls.
On your final day, after breakfast, we embark on the exciting 4-hour Bamboo Track trek, the most adventurous part of your entire trip. Afterward, begin your journey back to Guwahati, reaching the airport area by 7pm.
